Shtabnoje Pivo

Everything a man needs

Today we went out for a stroll around Almaty. The city is pretty flashy and you can see expensive restaurants and swanky bars on every second corner. Not really our thing. Almaty has a lot of beautiful nature around it but there is not too much to see within the city. So we decided to find a pub recommended by a passionate drinker on Couchsurfing, Shtab. We were not disappointed. We walked in and got seated in a side room with loads of gun pictures on the walls. The menu had a huge selection of domestic and foreign beers and it was rather cheap. To top that, they make their own beer as well. So of course I ordered one of their microbrewed beers.

A Shtabnoje pivo. It was dark golden and slightly cloudy with a medium creamy head. The aroma was pretty sweet and malty. The taste of the pivo was not bad. It was sweet malty with a slight bitterness kicking in after a while. A solid lager.
