365 Drinks: #267 Oak Barrel Red Wine (Myanmar)

Oak Barrel Red Wine
Oak Barrel Red Wine

You can tell by the bottle cap that it’s going to be good

Yesterday’s damson wine wasn’t too bad and since we are in THE wine region of Myanmar, might as well try a grape wine. I found a small bottle of Oak Barrel Red Grape Wine. The small bottle was super cheap and looked horrible. It had a metal cap just like a bottle of beer—I think that says it all. The content was dark red and smelled sweet-and-sour, like a wild berries Vitamin Water. It tasted very sweet and sugary with a wet basement flavor to it. I hoped it to be a bit more berry, just as the aroma suggested, but nothing. At least it had a good 12 percent of alcohol. Overall not a great wine but my standards are so low by now that I would say that this one is rather drinkable and definitely better than the one I had in Cambodia.
