Most of Nevada’s landscape is dominated by desert, but today we found ourselves in the mountainous area on the border to Utah. We wanted to camp but it was about to rain so we relaxed in our car and waited for the rain to stop. Luckily we did our shopping beforehand and could have a Bristlecone Brown Porter from Ruby Mountain Brewing Company in nearby Clover Valley, Nevada. The porter had a dark brown, slightly cloudy body with a nice creamy beige head. It smelled nicely like roasted malt. The taste was sweet creamy with a hint of malty mocha. It was very easy to drink and, with 4.8 percent, not as strong as other porters. Still a very good beer.
