Feeling zen

Today I was relying on the local liquor stop owner and got one of his “rare” beers. His recommendation was a Japanese Green Tea IPA that is a collaboration between three brewers: Baird Brewing, Ishii Brewing, and Stone Brewing.

The large 625ml bottle was $8, as expensive as a proper wine, and also with it’s 10.1 percent alcohol it was in the same league as a wine. It had an orange clear body with a tiny white creamy foam. The smell was very sweet hoppy, not much like green tea. It tasted sweet and tart at the beginning with a smoother finish and not really bitter for an IPA. The aftertaste was quite nice and showed characters of a green tea at last. It was quite dense and it felt heavy to drink, almost a bit syrupy. Overall I have to say that I quite liked it. Not really a beer to crack open every day after work but a nice change in the routine.
