I haven’t had a cocktail in ages so today we hit up the Two James Spirits’ micro distillery in the Corktown area of Detroit to see what they got. We got recommended to try their Whiskey Sour, so I went with it. They used their Johnny Smoking Gun Whiskey mixed with lemon juice, simple syrup, egg white and a brandied cherry. This is my first time trying a properly mixed whiskey sour so I wasn’t really sure what to expect but it was $15, so it better be the best fucking whiskey sour this side of the Mississippi.
It had a creamy pastel yellow body with a thick white foam and three cherries on top. The smell was dominated by egg aromas with a tiny hint of sour citrus, which made it interesting. It tasted quite sour, a bit creamy with a hint of whiskey that got stronger the more you drank. I have to say that I quite liked it although I am (still) not a whiskey fan. The egg white made it kind of thick and creamy which was awesome and I could definitely feel the alcohol after my glass. A pretty good drink.
