We didn’t go and see the Statue of Liberty or Ground Zero or the Empire State Building. Instead we sat in a park in Brooklyn and watched people play kickball and baseball while drinking beer. This is probably about as American as it gets and much more of an insight into America than some overcrowded buildings. So we joined the tradition and got us some beer. For me it was a Heinnieweise Weissebier by Butternuts Beer & Ale.
This pale yellow bodied beer is described as a “farmhouse ale” and had a 4.9 percent alcohol content and a small foamy white head. It smelled yeasty mixed with a malty sweetness, and hints of grassy aromas. The taste was a bit hoppy, yeasty and light without being watery, but it wasn’t really like a German weissbier at all. A very balanced taste and an awesome beer.
