Goodbye planet Turkmenistan

Our days in Turkmenistan were counted. We made our way up to the Konye-Urgench border crossing to enter Uzbekistan. Another long drive through the Turkmeni dessert that turned into endless cotton fields. The road was the most horrible we encountered so far. Countless massive potholes and lumps coming out of the “street” that were almost half as high as Jagger’s tire. Needless to say that it was a stressful long-lasting experience to drive down these roads. But we finally made it to the border city and we were rewarded with a UNESCO World Heritage Site tomb. It was our last hours in the country that brought me back my beer. So as the drink of the day I’ve chosen the generalisimo’s own drink. The president cognac.

It had a light brown color and came with a bottle that had the ultimate leader on it’s label. The smell was surprisingly ok, it wasn’t as harsh and intense as other cognacs, as I expected. Unfortunately the smell didn’t come up to the taste. There was no taste at all for the first couple of seconds, only a strong burning alcohol feeling. After the first wave of disgust, there came the second with an intense alcohol flavor. It was horrible and the rest of the bottle made it down the drain. Sorry dear leader, but your cognac is absolute shit.
